[YOUR PAGEANT NAME]
This policy defines what happens when a titleholder cannot fulfill the duties of her reign. By accepting the title, every titleholder agrees to these terms.
A titleholder is considered unable to serve if she:
Select one option and remove the other before publishing:
Option A — The first runner-up assumes the title for the remainder of the reign, effective the date of the outgoing titleholder’s resignation or removal.
Option B — The title remains vacant for the remainder of the reign. No titleholder represents the pageant until the next scheduled crowning.
Within fourteen days of resignation or inability to serve, the outgoing titleholder must return:
Damaged or missing regalia will be assessed at fair market value and billed to the titleholder or her parents/guardians.
When a titleholder steps down, this statement is issued on pageant social media and in a direct email to stakeholders:
[TITLEHOLDER NAME], [TITLE] of [YOUR PAGEANT NAME] [YEAR], has stepped down from her title effective [DATE]. We thank [TITLEHOLDER NAME] for her service, support her during this transition, and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
[Option A succession note: Per our pageant’s succession policy, [FIRST RUNNER-UP NAME] has assumed the title for the remainder of the reign.]
[Option B succession note: Per our pageant’s succession policy, the title will remain vacant until next year’s crowning.]
We will continue to represent our community and fulfill our commitments through the remainder of this reign.
